“Manila birthed me, Daly City raised me and San Francisco refined me!”

Singer/songwriter Leon Cruz had already proved his poetic writing style when asked even a simple question such as “where are you from?”

Leon has “been singing since I can remember.” and grew up singing along to MTV Music Video Countdowns and listening to Bob Marley, The Carpenters, Usher, and many other artists. Lately he’s been listening to “a constant loop of Yebba, Harry Styles, Paramore, Jamie Cullum, and my favorite classics.”

His first concert was at the age of 16, seeing Paramore at the Warfield in San Francisco. “Hayley swung the mic in a circle and launched it to the audience, I swear it booped me on the nose and electricity filled my body. She pulled the mic by the cord and caught it and continued to sing on cue.”

With his Indie-soulful sound, Leon hopes that his music can “be for others what my favorite music has been for me. It’s pulled me out of so many dark times and has brought me back down to earth and to myself the times I lost control. It’s taught me and healed me.”
